Around the world Blog hop

Hello

If you read a few blogs, you might have seen this around the world blog hop thing going around blogosphere.

It’s where a blogger gets tagged (by another blogger) to share a bit more info about themselves and then in turn tag other bloggers to join in and for you to check out their blogs.

Well today it’s my turn.

I’ve been tagged by Celine at Esprit Patch) who posted about the blog hop last Monday (25th August) Celine, is a serious stitcher. If you follow her on IG she is always sewing!! One of my favourites from her makes is her recent cat quilt! It’s great. You must check it out!

So, on to my favourite topic… Me! (Pah!)
Let’s get this show on the road…

1. What am I working on?

I’m really excited about my projects at the mo! (We all have multiple projects on the go, right?)
They are mostly secret sewing projects so I have to keep a bit under wraps for next few months, but I can show you a few sneaky pics:

2. How does my work differ from others of its genre?

Hmm, not sure about this question. Feels a bit interview-y and I’m not here to give you the Studio Lou Pitch.

I’ll tell you what I like, what I feel is ‘my style’ instead. I like bold prints, like AMH and (pretty much all) Cotton and Steel (ok, who doesn’t) Also love Tula Pink & Arizona right now!

I like contrast and think the use of solids is underrated. I like to try out different styles and ways to do things and would rather tweak something to make it my own than follow the set rules.
(Generally) Hate browns.
I love the design process in making an item, coming up with an idea and playing around with it in your head for a couple of days.

3. Why do I write/create what I do?

As mentioned above, I really enjoy the design process and seeing those ideas come to life gives me a buzz. I love to have something that’s for me (I know, selfish!)

I started sewing a couple of months after my little one was born (taught by my mother in law) as a nice thing to learn. I was a complete newbie and to be honest did not expect to love it this much. I’ve tried so many hobbies (ugh, I hate that word), knitting, art, crochet, baking, musical instrument, lalala, and although fun, nothing stuck past the initial novelty. Sewing stuck, big time and is a real passion for me!

I remember being totally amazed that I made this (very basic envelope close) cushion cover. I was so proud!

4. How does my writing/creating process work?

I normally have a seed of an idea, and mull on it/change it around for a bit. I love the fact that the end isn’t much like the start, because I’ve changed around the shape, position colour etc.

Once I have an idea I want to get going, like yesterday! I’m so impatient to see the finished item, which is why I usually (ok, always) have a few things on the go.

Ok, that’s me done.
That was quite enjoyable, maybe I do like talking about myself after all!

So now to hop along to these lovely ladies, find out what they do, what they are working on. Go on, have a nose round!
