Washi dress and Tunic makes

Hi!

It’s been a while since I’ve blogged, but that doesn’t mean I’ve not been sewing! Here’s some of what I’ve been up to…

For ages I’ve been seeing washi dresses popping up on social media, looking fab on whoever made them and making me want to have one too.

A month or so ago I did it, I ordered the Washi pattern (by made by Rae) and 3 meters of fabric for the dress (I had a couple of meters of a suitable fabric in my stash that I could use for the tunic.)

I made a quick muslin first, which is well worth doing. You only have to make the top bodice and it allows you to iron out any problems, adjust sizes, or just feel more confident before cutting in to the good stuff!

I made the tunic first, with the scoop neckline and no pockets. I used Embroidered by moon from Tule collection by Leah Duncan.

Then I made the dress version with pockets. Using Pearl bracelets by Lizzy House in Juniper.

These are such fun to make and it went quicker than I thought it would.

I upped the hem a bit on the dress as, firstly, I’m short and secondly I rarely get my legs out, so will likely be wearing this with leggings or crop jeans, so got me it’s nicer to have it a bit shorter.

All instructions and patterns are really easy to understand and follow and I love how easy it is to wear.

I think I’d quite like to get the extension pack for different necklines and sleeve options, then I can make lots more washis and each one will look different! Which is good because I have a list as long as my arm of fabrics that would look great as washis! 🙂
